About Cailora

Cailora is a UK-registered fintech focused entirely on GBP-to-EGP transfers. We are not a generalist money transfer platform trying to serve every corridor at once. We exist for one purpose: to make sending money from the United Kingdom to Egypt as simple, transparent, and cost-effective as possible.

That means transparent fees, no hidden rate markups, and a process designed to be reliable every time — whether your recipient needs funds in their bank account, wants someone to collect funds in person, or needs a bill paid directly.

The experience behind it

Cailora was founded by professionals who have spent their careers inside the institutions that shape international finance.

Our co-founders bring over 65 years of combined experience in banking, internal audit, risk management, and regulatory compliance. Tarek Rouchdy spent more than 45 years in the banking industry as an accountant and internal auditor, including senior roles at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, where he led fraud and compliance investigations across Central and Eastern Europe, and as Chief Financial Officer of the Central Bank of Egypt. He has conducted quality assessments of the internal audit functions of some of the world’s most significant financial institutions, including the European Investment Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and the African Development Bank.

Riad Fawzi brings over 20 years of experience in risk management and regulatory compliance across academia, professional services, and financial services. As founder of Second Strand Solutions Ltd, he has built a practice focused on second-line-of-defence consultancy, regulatory compliance, and financial services training — the same disciplines that underpin how Cailora is built and operated.

This is not a technology startup that discovered financial services. It is a financial services business that is using technology to solve a real problem.

We are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority as a Small Payment Institution, authorised by HMRC, and registered with the ICO. Regulation is not a box we ticked — it is the foundation we built on. The Egyptian community in the UK deserves a service they can trust completely, and that starts with being fully accountable under UK financial services law.

Cailora is currently in the final stages of preparation ahead of our Q3 2026 launch. If you would like to be among the first to know when we go live, register your interest below.
